Which Project Zomboid versions can I deploy?
Choose Build 42 Stable, Build 41 Legacy, or a custom Steam branch when the deployment flow supports it. Build 42 Stable is the recommended default. Build 40 is not currently offered.
What happens when I switch Project Zomboid versions?
With the default safety-backup option enabled, Metrly creates and verifies a backup, stops the server, updates its Steam branch, clears the live server files, and performs a clean reinstall. Returning to the prior world requires restoring the matching backup.
Are Build 41 saves compatible with Build 42?
No. The Project Zomboid developers state that Build 41 saves are not compatible with Build 42. Create a verified backup before changing builds and make sure every player uses the selected version.
How is Project Zomboid hosting priced?
Choose your server size and know the monthly cap before you start. Running time is billed in dollars, between an inclusive monthly minimum and that cap. The minimum keeps your world and backups ready; it is not added on top of your running-time charges.
