Minecraft Hosting Gets a Major Upgrade

Minecraft received a fairly unreasonable number of improvements this week.

Creating a server is easier. Bedrock hosting is officially supported. Minecraft tools have been reorganized and expanded. And you can now build and manage an entire Velocity network without spending your evening copying secrets between configuration files and wondering which server you forgot to restart.

Here is what changed.

Minecraft Setup That Actually Asks Minecraft Questions

Creating a Minecraft server now uses a guided setup built specifically for Minecraft.

Instead of dropping you into a generic hosting form, Metrly asks what you are trying to build:

Metrly uses those selections to recommend an appropriate configuration. More experienced server owners can still adjust the resources and advanced settings.

It is faster for new server owners and requires considerably less guesswork. A rare win for everyone involved.

Official Minecraft Bedrock Hosting

Metrly now supports official Minecraft Bedrock Dedicated Servers.

You can create a Bedrock server directly from the Minecraft setup flow without manually configuring installation files, startup commands, or additional network ports.

Bedrock hosting is intended for players using:

Java and Bedrock remain separate server types, so you can choose the edition that fits your players instead of forcing everyone into the same square hole. Even Minecraft blocks have standards.

Build an Entire Minecraft Network

The largest part of this release is managed Minecraft networks.

A Minecraft network connects multiple servers behind a proxy, allowing players to move between different experiences using one public address.

A network might include:

Metrly now creates and manages that setup as one network instead of pretending the proxy and backend servers are unrelated strangers.

You can create new backend servers during setup or attach compatible Minecraft servers you already host with Metrly.

While the network is being built, the deployment screen shows each component coming online:

Once everything is ready, players receive one public address for the entire network.

A Dedicated Minecraft Network Manager

Every network now has its own management area inside the Metrly Console.

The Network Manager gives you one place to understand and control the complete setup.

You can:

The network is now treated as the product you are operating, rather than a pile of individual servers that happen to know each other.

Smarter Routing and Fallbacks

You can control where players go when they connect to the network.

Choose a default destination, arrange fallback servers, and create domain-specific routes for different parts of the network.

For example:

Each route can also include fallback destinations. If the preferred server is temporarily unavailable, the network can try another destination instead of greeting players with a connection error and absolutely no useful explanation.

Network Health Monitoring

The Network Manager provides a clear summary of the network’s condition.

It checks:

When something needs attention, Metrly identifies the affected component and provides relevant actions.

“Something went wrong” may technically be an error message, but we have decided to aim slightly higher.

Maintenance Mode

Minecraft networks can use a waiting server during maintenance.

When maintenance mode is enabled, new connections can be routed away from normal gameplay servers while you perform updates or configuration changes.

This lets players land somewhere intentional instead of staring at a failed connection screen while you frantically update plugins.

When maintenance is finished, normal routing can be restored from the Network Manager.

Add New Servers Directly to a Network

Creating another destination for an existing network is now much easier.

During Minecraft server setup, you can choose an existing network and deploy the new server directly into it.

Metrly handles:

Once installation finishes, the new server appears inside the Network Manager alongside the rest of the network.

No secret-copying ceremony required.

Expanded Minecraft Management Tools

Individual Minecraft servers also received several new and improved management tools.

Depending on the server software you use, the console now includes dedicated areas for:

These tools are grouped into a dedicated Minecraft menu so they are easier to find without filling the standard server navigation with seventeen unrelated buttons.

Easier Modpack Management

Modded server owners can now browse and manage modpacks without relying entirely on manual uploads.

The Modpack Manager helps you:

Minecraft version and loader compatibility are shown during the process, helping reduce failed installs and the classic “this pack definitely worked on somebody else’s computer” problem.

More Minecraft Improvements Ahead

This release gives Minecraft a much stronger foundation inside Metrly.

You can now create anything from a straightforward Bedrock world to a multi-server Java network and manage it through one consistent console.

We are continuing to improve network automation, deployment reliability, Minecraft management tools, and game-specific documentation.
